National Weather Service Mobile AL

.NEAR TERM /Now Through Wednesday/...Zonal flow over the
Southeast will see a building ridge over the Southern Plains and a
shallow trough forming over eastern portions of the Southeast as an
upper level shortwave trough digs south over the eastern Conus. A
weak cold front will move south over the southeast this afternoon
through tonight, eventually stalling near the northern Gulf Coast
early Wednesday morning. A very dry airmass is present over majority
of the Southeast, with little rain indicated by radar stretching in
a band from northwest Louisiana across central Mississippi to
northern Alabama reaching the ground.

For the forecast, with the dry airmass in place over the forecast
area, any significant rain reaching the ground is expected to be
confined to northernmost portions of the forecast area and points
north, in a band of higher Gulf moisture stretching across this
area. Temperatures over most of the forecast area are expected to
rise to well above seasonal norms this afternoon, topping out in the
upper 60s to around 70 over most of the forecast area, the exception
will be a band across northern-most portions of the forecast area
seeing increased cloud cover and a bit of evaporational cooling,
with temperatures rising into the low 60s these portions of the
forecast area. Tonight, low temperatures around seasonal norms are
expected, with a bit below along and north of Highway 84 and a bit
above south. Low temperatures mainly in the 40s across the forecast
area are expected. Wednesday, cooler air will move south across
portions of the Southeast, with areas along and north of Highway 84
affected the most over the forecast area. Any residual rain will
have moved off with the passing upper shortwave system. High
temperatures ranging from around 60s along and north of Highway 84
to upper 60s closer to the coast.
