Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
330 PM MST Tue Nov 3 2020

.SYNOPSIS...Expect warm and dry conditions for the remainder of the
work week. Slight cooling and increasing southwest winds arrive on
Friday, with much cooler, windy and unsettled conditions for the
weekend. Areas of rain and snow are likely Saturday through Monday.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Modest instability and mid-level moisture associated
with a trough axis entering southwestern Utah has led to shower and
isolated thunderstorm over much of the region today. This activity
will continue to push toward the Four Corners this afternoon and
will diminish this evening.

A strong ridge redevelops in the wake of this upper low Wednesday
and Thursday, before breaking down rapidly on Friday.

Next weekend and early next week features a cold, windy and stormy
pattern. Strong winds are likely, along with areas of rain and snow
from Saturday through Monday.

Expect winds to begin to increase Friday afternoon, peaking on
Saturday. Wind headlines are likely at this time. Rain snow break
out along the first cold front Saturday, but will quickly move east.
A secondary low brings much lower snow levels and potentially more
widespread precipitation Sunday and Monday. Accumulating high
elevation snowfall looking more likely at this time, stay tuned.

&&

.AVIATION...For the 00Z package...Expect VFR conditions and light
winds for the 24 hour TAF forecast period. Sct -shra/isold -tsra

skies expected for Wednesday. Aviation discussion not updated for
TAF amendments.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms ending

Thursday, with light winds.

bring windy and colder weather for this period. Areas of rain and
