(Through Late Sunday Afternoon) Issued at 223 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2020 Despite surface ridge building into the region today, post frontal showers will linger across portions of east central/southeast Missouri and southwestern Illinois, though rainfall amounts will be on the light side. Otherwise, it will be rather chilly with highs only in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Surface ridge will be overhead tonight with partial clearing and another cold night in store with lows in the mid 30s to mid 40s. Surface ridge will move off to the east on Sunday with warmer southerly winds returning to the region. Could see some sunshine with highs in the low to mid 60s. Byrd .LONG TERM... (Sunday Night through Friday) Issued at 223 AM CDT Sat Apr 4 2020 With decent upper level ridging overhead will see temperatures moderate through mid week. Highs will be in the 70s to near 80 degrees Monday through Wednesday. Otherwise, still expect several rounds of showers and some storms across the region Monday through Tuesday night as a warm front lifts north across the area on Monday followed by a cold front that will move through by Tuesday night. Once cold front moves through, temperatures will be a bit below normal Thursday and Friday. As for precipitation chances, extended models have some differences in timing, strength and placement with system that will finally eject out of the southwestern U.S. with several rounds of activity possible Wednesday night through Friday. (For the 18z TAFs through 18z Sunday Afternoon) Issued at 1220 PM CDT Sat Apr 4 2020 Low clouds with IFR/MVFR ceilings will continue to linger at all of the terminals through the afternoon into the early evening before ceilings finally improve to VFR by mid-late evening. Northerly winds are expected to become light tonight and veer easterly by tomorrow morning. SPECIFICS FOR KSTL: Clouds with low MVFR clouds will continue to linger through the afternoon before ceilings finally improve to VFR by mid evening. There is some possibility that ceilings will fall below 1000FT AGL between 18-24Z this afternoon, though this risk was not high enough at this point to include in the TAF.
