Gusty north to northeast winds will persist through Friday morning then decrease. A gradual warming trend begins Friday and lasts through Sunday. Gusty southwest winds develop Sunday afternoon ahead of a cold front bringing shower chances and much colder temps Monday. && .DISCUSSION... Progs are in good agreement showing fast north to northeast flow aloft to affect northern Arizona through mid day Friday. The main impacts will be gusty north to northeast winds through Friday morning,with gusts to 40 mph in the favored areas downslope areas along and south of the Mogollon rim. Periods of mid and high level clouds are in store today, and should move out this evening. Fair weather is in store from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening. Expect warmer afternoon temps with decreasing winds through Sunday morning. Sunday is a transition day to westerly flow aloft. This due to a cold front and upper level trough moving through the Great Basin. Gusty southwest winds to develop Sunday afternoon. For Monday and Tuesday, the cold front to move across northern Arizona, with much colder temperatures for sure and chances for rain and snow showers. Present indications are for the greatest precip chances to be Monday afternoon / night. Stay tuned. && .AVIATION...For the 12Z package...Lingering low ceilings and possible patchy fog remain possible before 16Z in southern Apache County with associated MVFR/IFR conditions and obscured mountains likely. Locally gusty northeast winds will continue through the TAF period, especially along and south of higher terrain. Aviation discussion not updated for TAF amendments. && .FIRE WEATHER... Today will be cold and dry with northerly breezes, gusty at times along and south of high terrain. The winds will continue overnight into Friday morning before diminishing.
