734 NOUS42 KJAX 021800 PNSJAX PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSONVILLE FL 100 PM EDT Mon DEC 2 2019 ...NOVEMBER 2019 CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JACKSONVILLE... ...ABOVE AVERAGE RAINFALL WITH NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR NOVEMBER 2019... SUMMARY...November 2019 featured above average rainfall for most of the area along with near normal temperatures. Most of the rainfall occurred during the middle of the month as wave of low pressure developed along a nearly stationary cold front over Northeast Florida and moved slowly away from the coast. Rainfall on the 15th of the month broke daily rainfall records at Jacksonville with 3.16 inches of rain, Alma with 0.76 inches of rain, and St Simons Island with 2.32 inches of rain. The monthly rainfall totals at Jacksonville and St Simons Island were nearly an inch and a half above normal amounts while Gainesville received close to average rainfall for November. In contrast, Alma received just over an inch below their monthly rainfall average with only 1.37 inches measured November. AT JACKSONVILLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT... TEMPERATURES...The average temperature was 60.4 degrees, which is 1.9 degrees below normal for Jacksonville International Airport. The average daily high was 71.7 degrees which is 1.8 degrees below the normal value of 73.5 degrees. The temperature did not reach 90 degrees or higher during the month of November. The average daily low was 49 degrees which is 1.9 degrees below normal. There were no daily high or daily low temperature records broken during the month of November. The highest temperature for the month was 84 degrees on the 7th. The lowest temperature for the month was 39 degrees on the 13th and the 26th of the month. A record high minimum temperature of 71 degrees occurred on the 7th of the month. RAINFALL...November had above average rainfall amounts for Jacksonville. The monthly rainfall totaled 3.69 inches which is 1.58 inches above normal. The greatest 24 hour rainfall total was 3.16 inches on the 15th. The rainfall amount on the 15th broke the daily record of 1.50 inches which was set in 1916. WINDS...The average wind speed was 6.4 miles per hour. The peak wind speed was 21 miles per hour from the northeast on the 13th. The peak wind gust was 30 miles per hour from the northeast also on the 13th of the month. FOR ENERGY CONSUMPTION PURPOSES...There were 32 cooling degree days which is 29 cooling degree days below normal for the month. There were also 165 heating degree days recorded during the month which is 20 heating degree days above normal. DECEMBER OUTLOOK...The temperature outlook for northeast Florida and southeast Georgia indicates a 40 to 50 percent chance for above average temperatures throughout the entire southeastern United States for the month of December. The precipitation outlook indicates between a 33 to 40 percent chance of below average rainfall for northeast Florida and adjacent portions of southeast Georgia, with equal chances of either above or below average rainfall for areas to the north. The average temperature for December is 55.2 degrees. The average maximum temperature is 66.6 degrees and the average minimum temperature is 43.9 degrees.
