This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD
). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
782 FXUS64 KMAF 271732 AFDMAF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 1232 PM CDT Sun Oct 27 2019 .DISCUSSION... See 18Z aviation discussion below. && .AVIATION... VFR conditions are expected at area terminals through Monday morning, though low clouds may develop into the Permian Basin around 12Z. For now a low scattered deck is forecast to develop at INK, HOB and MAF, though there is a possibility that future forecasts may include IFR ceilings. For now IFR confidence is not high enough to include in terminal forecasts. A front pushing through the area this afternoon has already shifted winds northeast at HOB. Timing the front for the rest of the afternoon is tricky though going with shift to east to northeast winds at 00Z at MAF and 02Z at INK. Frontal passage will likely be marked by winds less than 10 knots at other terminals through the overnight and Monday morning, so passage is not reflected in current TAFs at remaining terminals. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 602 AM CDT Sun Oct 27 2019/ DISCUSSION... See 12z aviation discussion below. AVIATION... Light southwest winds will strengthen out of the west this afternoon with some gusts. Winds will weaken and become more southerly at all terminals except HOBs this evening. Winds will become easterly at HOB this afternoon as a cold front moves into the area. An easterly to northeasterly wind shift will occur at the other terminals this evening/tonight. Other than possible low ceilings at HOB near 12z Monday, VFR conditions are expected. PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 334 AM CDT Sun Oct 27 2019/ DISCUSSION... Strong upper trough extending from ND to NV this morning will swing east reaching the 4 Corners region Monday and passing across the Panhandle later in the day. As it does a secondary trough will move down out of Canada reaching ID and UT Tuesday. This develops into a closed low that rolls over the Rockies Wednesday and across the plains Thursday. High pressure will build in from the west behind it. Have clear skies again this morning but much warmer temperatures compared to 24 hrs ago with temps in the 50s instead of 30s. In the dry air temperatures will warm quickly today... expect afternoon highs to be well above normal into the 80s for much of the region. However a cold front will blow into the area during the late afternoon which will knock temps down 15 to 20 degrees for Monday. This front is not expected to move through all the area tonight only pushing up against the higher elevations before lifting back Monday. A stronger push is expected early Tuesday morning but this may not even be strong enough to push it to the Rio Grande until sometime Wednesday when a strong pressure gradient drives it south. Will have below normal temperatures Monday through the end of the week. Guidance indicates may see border line high wind conditions in the Guadalupe Mountains this afternoon and again Monday afternoon but this is out of the SW with upper flow ahead of the trough not due to fropa. Have raised wind speeds in the Guadalupes both days. Will be issuing a RFD this afternoon for the Guadalupe Mountains. Will continue the chance of rainshowers east Tuesday through Thursday. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
