VFR conditions are expected at the west Texas and southeast New Mexico terminals the next 24 hours under mostly cloudy skies. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected but confidence was not high enough to include at any one terminal at this time. Will continue to monitor. 12 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 549 AM CDT Tue Jul 2 2019/ DISCUSSION... See 12Z Aviation Discussion below. AVIATION... VFR conditions will prevail next 24 hours in return flow. Forecast soundings develop a cu field in the south late morning, spreading to the north early afternoon, w/bases ~ 4.5-7 kft agl. Convection will be possible this afternoon/tonight. Models do not redevelop the LLJ overnight. PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 314 AM CDT Tue Jul 2 2019/ DISCUSSION... A few showers and storms continue across the higher terrain this morning. This activity will likely diminish later this morning before developing again this afternoon. Very little change in thinking regarding the overall pattern over the next week. Our area will remain within a weakness between upper ridging to our west over Baja California and to our east over FL. This will signal a general increase in showers and storms during the afternoons while also limiting temperatures from getting too hot. The best chance for storms this afternoon will reside over the higher terrain. Mid level heights and temperatures will lower today which could allow temperatures to stay below normal. Similar conditions are expected Wednesday with storms possibly further east into the plains. The July 4th holiday looks hot with highs generally near normal with a tick down in precipitation chances. If you have plans for fireworks in the evening, the weather should cooperate. Moisture will stick around Friday into the weekend with a chance for storms each afternoon with high generally near normal. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
