The showers which passed through Iowa last evening exited to the east
during the early morning hours. However, clouds remained widespread
over the state during the night as an active weather pattern held firm
across the central United States. Northeast winds were common across
the state with cooler air arriving from Minnesota. Overnight
temperatures ranged from the mid 50s near the Missouri border to the
lower 40s in far northern Iowa. 

The forecast for Iowa and much of the region through midday Thursday
is cloudy and wet. Showers and some thunderstorms are expected in
Kansas and Missouri today with dry conditions farther north. By
tonight, the precipitation will begin to move north in Iowa and
surrounding areas a low pressure moves toward the state. The moist
conditions will persist into Wednesday for much of Iowa as showers and
thunderstorms continue. Some severe storms are forecast on Wednesday
afternoon, mainly south of Iowa with some marginally severe storms in
southern portions of the state. Drier conditions will finally arrive
by late Thursday into Friday.
