Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
1119 AM CDT Sat Mar 30 2019

Areas of light rain continued across south central into southeast Iowa
during the morning. Skies were mostly sunny across the northwest
counties and cloudy elsewhere. Early morning low temperatures were in
the upper 20s northwest to the middle 30s southeast. By late morning,
readings were in the lower 30s northwest to lower 40s southeast.
Breezy north winds were 15 to 25 mph with stronger gusts around 30
mph.

A cold front stretched from the Great Lakes into the central Plains
and will continue to drop south and east across the region. High
pressure will build into the upper midwest behind the cold front.
Clouds will depart the state this afternoon and any remaining
precipitation will exit with the frontal boundary. After this system
passes, we will see clearing skies along with cooler temperatures
ushered in on strong northwest winds of 25 to 40 mph. The wind will
diminish late this afternoon and evening but with clear skies, lows
tonight will fall into the 20s.

The surface high pressure will slip south tonight and Sunday bringing
moderate temperatures to the region. Highs today will be in the mid
30s north to the mid 40s south with mainly 40s on Sunday. Temperatures
will moderate slowly next week. We will see 40s and 50s on Monday
then mainly 50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. The next system to impact
the Upper Midwest will come Monday night through Tuesday morning with
another fast moving system for Wednesday through Thursday.
