The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a Gale Warning, which is in effect from 9 AM to 8 PM PST Wednesday. The Gale Watch is no longer in effect. * WAVES...Combined seas 9 to 12 feet, comprised mainly of westerly swell at 16 seconds this monring. Steep SE waves will build today and eventually reach 10 ft by this evening. Steep seas are expected to build to 15 to 18 ft Wed afternoon and evening in response to strong south winds. * WINDS...SE winds increasing to 15 to 25 kt this morning through Wednesday morning, becoming S 30 to 40 kt on Wednesday. Isolated gusts around 50 kt possible Wed and Wed night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions. A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
