This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD
). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
595 FXUS63 KOAX 070902 AFDOAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 302 AM CST Fri Dec 7 2018 .SHORT TERM...(Today through Monday) Issued at 258 AM CST Fri Dec 7 2018 High pressure remained over the region through the night, with northwesterly flow aloft. Light winds allowed frigid temperatures to maintain their grasp on the forecast area, especially where cloud cover diminished. By 2 am temperatures had dipped into the low 20s in areas blanketed by clouds. Meanwhile, radiational cooling was maximized over areas with snow cover and clear skies. This occurred in parts of southwest Iowa and southeast Nebraska, where the temperatures dropped into the teens and single digits. Chilly conditions are expected to continue through the weekend. Temperatures will top out in the mid 20s across northeast Nebraska, to around 30F in southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa Friday through Sunday. Overnight, lows will dip into the teens and single digits. Climatologically, these temperatures are close to 10 degrees below normal for this time of year. Generally, quiet weather is expected through Sunday. However, given the lingering high pressure at the surface in addition to light winds, there is some potential for patchy freezing fog late Friday night into Saturday morning. An upper low will meander through the Central Plains Sunday through Monday morning. Dry air should keep it from producing more than a flurry, otherwise, it will bring another reinforcing boost of cold air. .LONG TERM...(Monday night through Thursday) Issued at 258 AM CST Fri Dec 7 2018 Thankfully, bitterly cold temperatures won't last forever. A ridge will build into the nation's midsection behind the departing low Monday night and Tuesday, warming high temperatures back into the mid to upper 30s Tuesday through Thursday. A series of shortwaves could bring a glancing blow of light precipitation to the forecast area Wednesday and Thursday. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Friday night) Issued at 1125 PM CST Thu Dec 6 2018 Weak low-level warm advection is maintaining a band of low VFR ceilings (FL032-035) over much of western IA and far eastern NE as of 11 PM. Latest model guidance suggests that cloud shield may drift slowly northeast overnight into Friday morning with a few flurries possible. At the same time, a patch of mid-level clouds (FL090) will overspread northeast NE. Expect winds to remain light from the south into Friday morning before veering to southwest and strengthening by afternoon. Patchy low VFR ceilings (FL035) could linger Friday afternoon into evening ahead of a weak front moving into the area from the northwest. && .OAX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NE...None.
