Effective Tuesday, October 23, 2018 the National Weather Service in Jacksonville will modify the flood stage levels for the Santa Fe River at Worthington Springs (WORF1) to better reflect impacts from flooding along this portion of the river. These new flood levels are: Action Stage 56 feet (unchanged) Minor Flood Stage 59 feet (unchanged) Moderate Flood Stage 64 feet (up 2 feet) Major Flood Stage 66 feet (up 2 feet) This location is a flood only forecast point, which means forecasts are issued whenever the river is expected to rise above the specified action stage. Forecasts for this location are issued by the Southeast River Forecast Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. River flood warnings are issued by the National Weather Service in Jacksonville whenever the river is expected to exceed flood stage. These updated flood stages are based on flood survey information provided by the Union County Sheriff Department and Emergency Management as well as a review of flood impacts along the river following mitigation activities after Hurricane Irma. Based on the coordination with Union County, the flood impact statements for the Santa Fe River at Worthington Springs have been modified as follows: 75 feet - Water reaches the approach to the State Road 121 bridge in Alachua County just north of Northwest 290 Avenue. 73.6 feet - Water reaches the base of the State Road 121 bridge on the Alachua and Union County sides. The bridge is subject to closure above this level. 72 feet - The County Road 241 bridge at the Alachua Union County line is subject to closure above this level. 71.5 feet - Water begins to flood travel lanes of State Road 121 about one quarter mile south of the bridge on the Alachua County side. 69 feet - Additional structures on Southwest 99th Avenue in Union County flood. 66 feet - A home east of Southwest 102nd Avenue near 103rd loop in Union County begins to flood. 64 feet - Southwest 99th Avenue in Union County is subject to closure above this level restricting access to homes near the river. Water begins to approach a couple of residences in the area. Structures south of County Road 18 near Southwest 78th Court begin to flood. 63 feet - Southwest 99th Avenue in Union County begins to flood. 62 feet - In Union County, flooding expands across farm land south of County Road 18 and approaches the road surface about 1 mile east of Southwest County Road 241. 60 feet - A driveway near Southwest 102nd Court in Union County begins to flood at this level. Flooding along the river continues to impact boat ramps, docks and campgrounds in the area. 59 feet - Chastain-Seay Park in Worthington Springs is generally closed to the public as access roads within the park become flooded. 58 feet - Picnic Areas and campsites at Chastain-Seay Park in Worthington Springs begin to flood. 56 feet - The boat ramp and floating dock at Chastain-Seay Park in Worthington Springs begin to flood.
