This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD
). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
388 FXUS65 KVEF 271505 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 805 AM PDT Wed Jun 27 2018 .SYNOPSIS...An area of high pressure over the Desert Southwest will keep hot and dry conditions in place today. A trough of low pressure will move across the western states Thursday and Friday leading to increasing southwest winds and temperatures pulling back closer to normal Friday. Temperatures will warm slightly Saturday through early next week. && .UPDATE...Another warm and dry late June day is in store, with conditions closely mirroring those observed yesterday. The current forecast is in good shape, and no updates are planned today. -Outler- && .SHORT TERM...through Friday night. Trough approaching the Pacific Northwest will usher in stronger winds today and Thursday. Main issue will concern those with fire weather interests Thursday due to low RH and winds that would aid in fire spread. Isolated pockets of stronger winds linger in Mohave County Friday, elsewhere less wind can be expected. Downward trend in temperatures through Friday. Otherwise, smoke from the Lions Fire will probably continue to produce lower visibility in Inyo and Esmeralda Counties. .LONG TERM...Saturday through Wednesday. Didn't make any significant changes to the extended forecast as high pressure begins to nudge into the region from the west. This will bring an increase in temperatures area-wide, but overall readings are not expected to be much above normal. The models begin to diverge more Sunday through Tuesday with the GFS showing a rather strong high centered near the four corners region while the EC has this high centered more into Oklahoma. It really comes down to the strength of a trough that is forecast to move into the Pacific Northwest early next week. If it comes in fairly weak and shallow, it may open the door for a southeast flow which would potentially bring low level gulf moisture into the area. Anything stronger then we would likely remain in a dry southwest flow. Will follow the same trends as the previous forecast which is to increase some clouds over the southern CWA, but keeping all mention of pops out of the forecast. && .AVIATION...For McCarran...Light northeast to easterly winds expected after 15Z today before stronger southwest winds with gusts up to 25 kts arrive between 21-23Z this afternoon. Mostly clear conditions with slight chance for diffuse smoke from distant wildfires. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...South-southwest winds expected today across the region by late morning with gusts 25 to 30 kts possible. Mostly clear conditions with slight chance for diffuse smoke from distant wildfires. Denser smoke and lower visibility possible around KBIH. && .FIRE WEATHER...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect Thursday from noon until 9 PM for strong south-southwest winds and low relative humidity across Clark, Lincoln and Mohave Counties as the trough moves across the Great Basin leading to extensive gusts 35 to 40 mph. Minimum humidity values will be in the single digits. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ SHORT TERM/AVIATION/FIRE WEATHER...Pierce LONG TERM...Gorelow For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: http://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
