Weather Summary for Arkansas
National Weather Service Little Rock AR
454 AM CDT Sat Jun 2 2018

Another hot and humid day is expected across the state today
before some much welcomed relief comes in, at least for a couple
of days.

A line of strong thunderstorms developed Friday evening over parts
of central Arkansas along an old outflow boundary left over from
previous thunderstorms. These storms did produce a quick inch or
two of rain and prompted a flash flood warning.

At the 5 AM hour, skies were generally partly cloudy with some
patchy fog also showing up as well. Temperatures were very warm for
this time of the night with widespread readings in the 70s and
even a few lower 80s. Humidity remained on the high side and winds
were basically calm.

High pressure will continue to dominate today with highs expected
to climb into the lower to mid 90s. Heat indices this afternoon
are expected to reach the upper 90s to near 105 degrees with the
highest values over central southern parts of the state.

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible during this afternoon
and evening as a cold front moves through. Some of these storms
could be strong to possibly severe with the primary concerns being
strong gusty winds and large hail, Behind the front, slightly
cooler but much drier air will filter into the state and stick
around for a few days.
