261 AWCA82 TJSJ 122149 RWSPR Weather Summary for Puerto Rico National Weather Service San Juan PR 549 PM AST Thu Apr 12 2018 Variably cloudy skies were observed along the Cordillera Central of Puerto Rico, the northwestern sections and the over the metropolitan area during the afternoon. Showers with periods of heavy rainfall affected these areas and flood advisories were issued through the late afternoon hours. Highest rainfall amounts were in western Puerto Rico with rain gages reporting just above 2 inches of rain. Maximum temperatures were in the high 80s to low 90s across coastal areas. The wind was from the east to southeast at 10 to 15 mph with sea breeze variations across western and northern Puerto Rico. Showers will continue across the western areas of Puerto Rico and across the Mona Passage through the evening hours as they slowly dissipate. For the overnight hours, clear to partly cloudy skies should prevail with showers mainly moving over the regional waters. Afternoon shower and thunderstorm development is expected on Friday over the interior and western sections of Puerto Rico as well in and around the San Juan metro area. Mariners can expect seas up to 7 feet in the Atlantic offshore waters and in the Anegada Passage and winds up to 20 knots for the next few days. Small craft advisories are in effect for these waters. Elsewhere, seas will continue between 4 to 6 feet and winds will be from the east at 10 to 15 knots. A moderate risk of rip currents continues for the northern and east facing beaches of the islands. $$ This product is issued around 5 AM and 5 PM each day and weather conditions may change between issuances.
