132 AWCA82 TJSJ 162117 RWSPR Weather Summary for Puerto Rico National Weather Service San Juan PR 517 PM AST Wed Aug 16 2017 Variably cloudy skies prevailed across Puerto Rico this afternoon. Scattered to numerous showers with thunderstorms were noted across most the island. The heaviest showers were observed across the southwest sections of Puerto Rico. Winds were generally east northeast at 10 to 15 mph with higher gusts. An active tropical wave which was located across the Lesser Antilles this afternoon, will continue to move west and will affect the local islands tonight into Thursday. Very active weather is expected across Puerto Rico overnight and early Thursday as this wave interacts with an upper level trough to our west. A slight improvement in the weather conditions are expected on Friday. Another and stronger tropical wave is expected to pass mainly south of the region Saturday. Mariners can expect seas between 5 to 7 feet and winds 15 to 20 knots. Therefore, small Crafts Advisories are in effect. $$ This product is issued around 5 AM and 5 PM each day and weather conditions may change between issuances.
