Issued at 904 AM CDT Sun Jul 30 2017 High pressure in the Mid Missisissippi valley will stay in control over the area through Monday afternoon. Northwest flow aloft will continue over the region with a trough over the northeast US and a ridge covering most of the western part of the country. Winds will be generally light out of northeast to east through the forecast period. Temperatures today will continue below seasonal normals to begin the new work week. Kelly && .SHORT TERM... (Through Late Tonight) Issued at 340 AM CDT Sun Jul 30 2017 Little change in the short term forecast. Northwest flow aloft continues with a trof over the eastern US and a large ridge of high pressure over the weatern US. Surface high pressure from northern IL to the Great Lakes will keep a northeast to east wind flow across the are today and Monday. Temperatures wil slowly increase into mid week. JPK .LONG TERM... (Monday through Saturday) Issued at 340 AM CDT Sun Jul 30 2017 Even though upper ridge is beginning to break down by Monday, surface ridge to remain in control with dry and cooler weather. Then by Tuesday afternoon, weak upper level shortwave to undercut the surface ridge, so could see some isolated showers and storms, mainly along and north of I-70. With loss of daytime heating, activity to diminish by sunset on Tuesday. By Wednesday, surface ridge to move off to the southeast allowing next system to approach region. Will see increasing low level moisture and instability with showers and storms developing. However, coverage to remain isolated and scattered through Wednesday night as system stalls overhead. Better chances of showers and storms beginning Thursday as stronger upper level shortwave moves in. Shortwave will eventually help to push boundary south of forecast area by Friday night with storms coming to an end. As for temperatures through the period, will see near normal temps through Thursday, then drier and cooler air to move in once again for the beginning of next weekend. Byrd && .AVIATION...
