This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD
). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
540 FXUS63 KICT 050815 AFDICT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Wichita KS 315 AM CDT Wed Jul 5 2017 .SHORT TERM...(Today through Friday night) Issued at 315 AM CDT Wed Jul 5 2017 Today: A weak mid-level low is centered over extreme Southeast MO early this morning. The low will continue to drive through a school zone as it crosses Southern MO today, then transition into a mid-level trof when it reaches the mid-MS Valley tonight. With its surface counterpart likewise drifting east, a few light showers that will wrap around the low may clip far Southeast KS until late this afternoon. Tonight: The only change was introduce patchy fog to Southeast KS toward morning where/when a weak surface high would be centered across Eastern KS. The nearly calm wind & soaked ground would promote fog formation. Moisture depth is shallow which SHOULD prevent the fog from getting dense. Thu & Thu Night: It'll be dry across the KS Neighborhood as a strong, massive mid to upper high drifts east toward the Rockies. Thu will be the hottest day for the rest of the week. Fri & Fri Night: A deep & broad cyclone centered over Hudson Bay/Northern Ontario will ship a fairly sharp shortwave SE across the Great Lakes. This would send a weak cold front S/SE with the front (which is more like a surface trof) into KS. Enough moisture would be present to 'spark' a few thunderstorms across KICT Country both periods. The thunderstorms should generally behave, but a few may be strong. .LONG TERM...(Saturday through Tuesday) Issued at 313 AM CDT Wed Jul 5 2017 This Weekend: With the afore-mentioned cyclone sending periodic, albeit weak, shortwaves SE from the Northern Plains to the MS Valley & ample moisture in place isolated/widely scattered thunderstorms will pop up over the weekend. Mon-Tue: It'll be hot & dry as S-SW lower-deck flow prevails. && .AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Wednesday night) Issued at 1138 PM CDT Tue Jul 4 2017 Scattered, lingering light rain showers are expected tonight into perhaps Wednesday over far southeastern Kansas. Areas of MVFR/IFR ceilings/visibilities are likely at the CNU terminal overnight into Wednesday morning, where cyclonic low-level curvature in the height fields and a moistened boundary layer is indicated. Otherwise; dry weather, light winds and VFR conditions are expected to prevail elsewhere in central/south-central Kansas. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
