This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.
125 FXUS65 KLKN 082202 AFDLKN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Elko NV 302 PM PDT Mon May 8 2017 .SYNOPSIS...The large upper-level low to the south will begin a slow departing track away from Nevada tonight as a ridge builds in. Showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern Nevada this afternoon will diminish by evening. Besides some showers in southeastern Nevada the next couple of days, drier conditions and warmer temperatures will prevail Tuesday through Thursday. && .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Thursday Showers this morning in White Pine and Nye counties have tapered off some early this afternoon. A couple of thunderstorms rolled through Nye county before noon and Tonopah added about another third of an inch of rain to yesterday's record rainfall. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be increasing in coverage as the afternoon wears on in a line from Elko County southwestward through Nye County and then areas eastward from the line. These will be diminishing towards sunset similar to what has occurred the past few days. The closed low south of us is expected to move slowly ENE into southern Arizona through Tuesday and then into New Mexico on Wednesday as a ridge wedges its way into California and Nevada, sandwiched in between the closed low and a deep low dropping down from off the BC coast. There may still be a few showers in the southeastern portions of Nye and White Pine Counties Tuesday and Wednesday as wrap around moisture rotates through the departing low to the south. Otherwise, mostly clear skies and warmer temperatures will be in store for Nevada under the ridge. Tuesday's highs will warm to the 65-75 degree range and Wednesday 75-80 degrees. Lows expected to be in the mid 30's to the lower 40's. On Thursday southwest flow will begin to push into our western counties as the Pacific low approaches and stronger winds push into western portions of Humboldt county. One final day of warming expected before cooling begins and highs push into the lower 80's for the warmest valleys. Wednesday night's lows will be 45-50 degrees. .LONG TERM...Thursday night through next Monday. Not expecting much in the way of weather for the rest of the week or the upcoming weekend. Low pressure will circulate around the Pacific northwest region through early next week. There will be some unstable air across northern Nevada each day however little precipitation is expected. Winds will be off and on breezy as each shortwave impulse emanating from the central circulation penetrates the LKN CWFA. && AVIATION...As low pressure moves south of Nevada, showers may impact KELY and KTPH through Tuesday afternoon, with an occasional thunderstorm bringing CIGS and VIS down. VFR conditions are expected at KWMC and KEKO through Tuesday afternoon. && .HYDROLOGY...Higher elevation snow melt is increasing and in general, river and creek levels are rising.
