This bulk download tool provides the NWS text
in a raw form, hopefully directly usable by your processing system.
You can either provide a complete 6-character PIL/AFOS ID or provide
the 3-character base ID (e.g., AFD
). The start and end
dates represent 00 UTC for those dates. The Zip format is useful as
the filenames will have the product timestamp, which is useful for
when the product format has ambiguous timestamps.

By sunset, skies were mostly clear over the northwest third of the state, while the remainder of Iowa was cloudy. There still was some light snow being reported over far east central and southeast Iowa by late afternoon. High temperatures were in the lower and middle 30s southeast to the lower and middle teens northwest. Northwest winds were 10 to 20 mph with wind chills in the single digits northwest to around 30 southeast. Low pressure was centered over northern Illinois late this afternoon with a cold front extending into southeast Iowa and Missouri. The cold front will continue to sweep across the region with high pressure building into the region tonight and Monday. Behind the front, colder temperatures are expected with lows around 0 for Monday morning across northwest Iowa. On Monday, areas south of the snow cover will warm up with temperatures topping out in the low to mid 30s across southern Iowa. This will be short lived as a much stronger arctic cold front will sweep across the region Monday night. The frontal passage may be accompanied by some light snow showers and a brief period of strong winds, but the bigger story will be the very cold temperatures experienced for the remainder of the week. From Tuesday through Thursday daily highs will mainly be in the single digits and teens. Meanwhile the lowest readings will likely come early Thursday morning, when temperatures will approach 10 below zero across far northern Iowa. Another winter storm system will produce precipitation across the region from Friday into Saturday, then more cold weather is on tap toward the end of next weekend. $$
