Skies were partly to mostly cloudy across the state this morning. A
cold front stretched from east central Iowa into southwest Iowa. North
of the front, winds were north at 10 to 15 mph. South of the front,
winds were southwest around 10 mph. Early morning lows ranged from the
middle and upper 40's north to the lower and middle 60's south. By
late morning, readings had warmed into the lower and middle 50's 
north to the lower and middle 70's south. 

A frontal boundary was bisecting the region, extended from the Great 
Lakes into Iowa and southern Nebraska this morning. The front over 
Central Iowa will eventually drift into southern Iowa by late day. In 
the mean time, another warm day will occur over the south with highs 
in the mid 70's to near 80 by this afternoon as south winds give way 
to north winds. Across the north more clouds and cooler temperatures 
can be expected. Highs will reach the upper 50's to upper 60's. An 
upper level storm system will approach the region later today and 
bring a chance of showers to northern Iowa by late afternoon. Showers 
and some isolated thunderstorms will move over portions of central and
 eastern Iowa overnight tonight. Lows will fall to the upper 30's 
northwest to the lower 50's in the south by Sunday morning. 
 
Cooler weather will continue on Sunday with some clouds early.
Another quick warm up will occur Monday as highs reach the mid 60's 
north to mid 70's south buffeted by stronger southwest winds. Mild 
temperatures will remain through Wednesday with cooler temperatures by
the end of next week. Look for another round of showers and 
thunderstorms from late Tuesday night through Wednesday.
