WEATHER SUMMARY FOR MINNESOTA

420 AM CDT THU OCT 30 2014

LIGHT RAIN DEVELOPED ACROSS WESTERN MINNESOTA BETWEEN FERGUS FALLS 
AND MONTEVIDEO TOWARD MIDNIGHT AND SLOWLY MOVED EAST AND SOUTHEAST 
ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN MINNESOTA. ALTHOUGH MOST OF THE 
PRECIPITATION WAS VERY LIGHT AND SPRINKLES WERE MAINLY REPORTED...A 
FEW AREAS IN WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA RECEIVED NEARLY A TENTH OF AN 
INCH. MADISON REPORTED 0.11 INCHES OF RAINFALL SINCE MIDNIGHT WITH 
BENSON AT 0.08 INCHES AND 0.06 INCHES AT APPLETON. EVEN A FEW 
REPORTS OF SNOW WERE NOTED IN CENTRAL AND NORTHERN MINNESOTA PRIOR 
TO 4 AM. A DISTURBANCE MOVING SOUTHEAST ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA PRODUCED 
THE RAINFALL IN THE WEST AND SOUTHWEST PART OF THE STATE. A WEAK 
AREA OF LOW PRESSURE NEAR EAST GRAND FORKS HAD AN AREA OF LIGHT 
RAIN...MIXED WITH LIGHT SNOW THAT WAS QUICKLY MOVING TO THE 
SOUTHEAST. PRE DAWN TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY IN THE 30S ACROSS 
THE STATE...WITH A FEW 40S STILL IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER PRIOR TO 4 
AM. 

THE COLDEST AIR OF THE SEASON HAS BEGUN TO ENTER THE NORTHERN PART 
OF NORTH DAKOTA AND NORTHWEST MINNESOTA. BRISK NORTH WINDS HAD 
DEVELOPED BEHIND IT WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE 20S. THIS FRONT WILL 
MOVE SOUTHEAST ACROSS MINNESOTA TODAY. LIGHT RAIN WILL ACCOMPANY 
THIS FRONT ALONG WITH A STRONG NORTH WIND. TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY 
HOLD STEADY OR BEGIN TO FALL IN NORTHERN MINNESOTA THIS 
MORNING...WITH CENTRAL MINNESOTA HAVING THEIR HIGH TEMPERATURES IN 
THE EARLY AFTERNOON. SOUTHERN MINNESOTA WILL HAVE TEMPERATURES RISE 
INTO THE MID TO UPPER 40S...WITH A FEW 50S ALONG THE IOWA BORDER 
BEFORE THE FRONT ARRIVES LATE THIS AFTERNOON. BY THIS 
EVENING...STRONG NORTH WINDS AND TEMPERATURES FALLING INTO THE 20S 
AND 30S WILL CREATE WIND CHILL VALUES IN THE TEENS.
