Today through Saturday will be occasionally breezy with near or slightly below normal temperatures. There will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms for Friday and Saturday, especially around the northern mountains. A warming trend is expected early next week, with a slight chance of thunderstorms over the eastern mountains by Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon. && .DISCUSSION... Quick morning update: Lightning activity has decreased quite rapidly across southeastern WA and the Idaho over the last hour. at this time...this is mainly a shower threat but an isolated clap of thunder cannot be ruled out completely between now and 9AM. The main axis of showers currently extends from the Silver Valley to the L-C Valley and is forecast by all models to weaken and sag south during the remainder of the morning. Needless to say, skies, pops, and wx has been adjusted to fit satellite/radar accordingly. /sb && .AVIATION... 12Z TAFS: Main aviation concern through 17z will be elevated thunderstorms extending across SE WA and the ID Panhandle. This activity is as far north as it will extend this morning (KGEG-KCOE) and should begin to sag south into vcnty KLWS-KPUW before exiting the aviation area by 17z. After 18z...mostly clear skies and gusty winds will be the main story with the strongest winds focusing along the upper Columbia Basin frm KEAT-KGEG.
