STRONG HIGH PRESSURE FIRMLY IN CONTROL OF THE WEATHER ACROSS THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES PROVIDED SUNNY SKIES AND CLOSE TO NORMAL TEMPERATURES ACROSS MICHIGAN TODAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES PEAKED IN THE LOW TO MID 40S...WITH BREEZY WEST TO SOUTHWEST WINDS. HIGH PRESSURE WILL SLIDE EAST OF MICHIGAN TONIGHT...ALLOWING SOME INCREASE IN CLOUD COVER FROM THE WEST. A WEAK AREA OF LOW PRESSURE WILL CLIP UPPER MICHIGAN ON THURSDAY...RESULTING IN THICKENING CLOUD COVER ACROSS ALL OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN AND A FEW SPRINKLES OR FLURRIES ACROSS EASTERN UPPER MICHIGAN. LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL BE MAINLY IN THE 20S...WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES THURSDAY AFTERNOON WARMING INTO THE UPPER 40S TO LOWER 50S. DESPITE WHAT THE CALENDER SAYS...WE STILL HAVE LOCATIONS ACROSS THE AREA WITH SNOW ON THE GROUND. SOME OF THE MORE IMPRESSIVE TOTALS ARE IN THE TEENS...SUCH AS VANDERBILT...WHERE THEY STILL HAVE 16 INCHES OF A GLACIER-IZED SNOW PACK. THE EASTERN UPPER BOASTS EVEN MORE SNOW ON THE GROUND...WHERE MORAN HAS 15 INCHES. HOWEVER...THE AWARD HAS TO GO TO SAULT STE MARIE...WHERE THEY ARE STILL DEALING WITH A 22 INCH SNOW PACK. THIS IS CURRENTLY TIED FOR SECOND PLACE FOR THE DEEPEST SNOW DEPTH ON APRIL 2ND. THE RECORD IS A WHOPPING 25 INCHES...WHICH WAS OBSERVED ON THIS DAY BACK IN 1972. $$ RUNYAN
