MONTANA WEATHER SUMMARY

435 PM MDT MON OCT 24 2005

ONCE AGAIN...STRONG TEMPERATURE INVERSIONS PERSISTED OVER PARTS OF  
NORTHWEST MONTANA THIS AFTERNOON...AND CONTINUED TO TRAP LOW CLOUDS AND 
FOG IN SOME VALLEYS THERE.  ELSEWHERE...A STRONG UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF 
HIGH PRESSURE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES. 

AFTERNOON WINDS WERE RELATIVELY LIGHT...EXCEPT FOR SOUTH TO WEST WINDS 
OF 20 TO 30 MPH ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE ROCKIES.  AFTERNOON 
TEMPERATURES WERE GENERALLY IN THE 40S AND 50S WEST OF THE DIVIDE... 
WITH 60S AND 70S OVER THE REST OF THE STATE.

AT 4 PM...AREAS OF LOW CLOUDS PERSISTED IN A FEW NORTHWESTERN 
VALLEYS... OTHERWISE SKIES WERE MOSTLY SUNNY OVER THE TREASURE STATE.  
WINDS WERE LIGHT AT MOST OTHER LOCATIONS.  TEMPERATURE REPORTS AT 4 PM 
RANGED FROM 45 DEGREES AT KALISPELL UP TO 73 AT LEWISTOWN AND JORDAN.

OVERNIGHT...SKIES WILL BE MOSTLY CLEAR...EXCEPT FOR AREAS OF FOG AND 
LOW CLOUDS IN SOME NORTHWESTERN VALLEYS.  LOW TEMPERATURES WILL BE 
MOSTLY IN THE 30S TO LOW 40S...WITH 20S IN SOME HIGHER WESTERN AND 
SOUTHWESTERN VALLEYS.
