URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT SOUTHERN MINNESOTA AND WEST CENTRAL 
WISCONSIN TODAY AND TONIGHT...

.A DEEPENING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA IS 
FORECAST TO MOVE EASTWARD TODAY...MOVING TO NORTHWEST MISSOURI BY 
THIS EVENING.  AHEAD OF THE LOW...A LARGE SHIELD OF PRECIPITATION...
IN THE FORM OF RAIN...FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET...WILL AFFECT MUCH OF 
CENTRAL INTO SOUTHERN MINNESOTA TODAY.  THE MIXED PRECIPITATION IS 
EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO WET SNOW BY THIS AFTERNOON OVER THE 
SOUTHWEST AND BY EVENING IN EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA.  THE WINTRY 
PRECIPITATION SHOULD BEGIN IN EARNEST OVER EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA 
AND WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN BY LATE AFTERNOON.   THE STORM WILL MOVE 
OFF TOWARD NORTHEAST ILLINOIS BY MONDAY MORNING AND SHOULD TAKE THE 
ACCUMULATING SNOW WITH IT.  

AT THE PRESENT TIME...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 
4 TO 7 INCHES ROUGHLY SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR MONTEVIDEO TO ANOKA 
AND NEW RICHMOND TO CORNELL...AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR NEW ULM 
TO FARIBAULT AND EAU CLAIRE.  THE HIGHER ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD FALL 
FROM NEAR THE TWIN CITIES EAST TO CHIPPEWA FALLS AND EAU 
CLAIRE.        

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHWEST TO SOUTH 
CENTRAL MINNESOTA FOR TODAY AND TONIGHT...AND FOR THE MOST OF EAST 
CENTRAL MINNESOTA THIS AFTERNOON.  A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN 
POSTED FOR MOST OF EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND MUCH OF WEST CENTRAL 
WISCONSIN FORM TONIGHT.

PERIODS OF LIGHT RAIN...FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET WILL MOVE THROUGH THE 
MONTEVIDEO...REDWOOD FALLS AND MANKATO AREAS THIS MORNING.  THE 
MIXED PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE OVER TO ALL SNOW BY 
AFTERNOON OVER MOST OF THE REGION.  ACCUMULATIONS BY MIDNIGHT 
TONIGHT SHOULD RANGE FROM 4 TO 6 INCHES. 

WITH TEMPERATURES HOVERING AROUND THE FREEZING MARK...UNTREATED 
ROADS AND SIDEWALKS WILL BECOME SLICK...ESPECIALLY DURING THE 
MORNING HOURS.

AN AREA OF LIGHT FREEZING RAIN...RAIN AND/OR SNOW IS EXPECTED TO 
DEVELOP OVER EAST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...MAINLY THIS AFTERNOON.  
THROUGH MID MORNING...AIR TEMPERATURES WILL BE RANGING CLOSE TO 
FREEZING FROM THE TWIN CITIES WEST TO LITCHFIELD AND HUTCHINSON. THE 
PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY CAUSE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS ON UNTREATED 
ROADS AND SIDEWALKS.  

COLDER AIR IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE REGION LATER THIS 
AFTERNOON...CHANGING THE MIXED PRECIPITATION OVER TO ALL SNOW.  
A WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE TWIN CITIES 
METRO...HUTCHINSON...FARIBAULT AND OWATONNA.  SNOW ACCUMULATIONS 
COULD RANGE FROM 4 TO 8 INCHES IN THIS REGION BY DAWN MONDAY.

A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR MOST OF WEST CENTRAL 
WISCONSIN FOR TONIGHT.  THE AREA AFFECTED IS GENERALLY SOUTH OF A 
LINE FROM NEW RICHMOND TO CORNELL.  THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR 
SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AROUND 6 INCHES.  DRIVING CONDITIONS 
MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS...SO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
