677 WWUS85 KBOU 231559 SPSDEN COZ030>051-232000- HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR NORTHEAST AND NORTH CENTRAL COLORADO NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DENVER COLORADO 1000 AM MDT TUE JUL 23 2002 THIS OUTLOOK PERTAINS TO THE FOLLOWING COLORADO COUNTIES ADAMS ARAPAHOE BOULDER BROOMFIELD CLEAR CREEK DENVER DOUGLAS ELBERT GILPIN GRAND JACKSON JEFFERSON LARIMER LINCOLN LOGAN MORGAN PARK PHILLIPS SEDGWICK SUMMIT WASHINGTON WELD SYNOPSIS: A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL BE CENTERED NEAR THE FOUR CORNERS AREA THROUGH TONIGHT. A WEAK UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE OVER NORTHEASTERN UTAH THIS MORNING WILL BRUSH ACROSS NORTHEASTERN COLORADO DURING THE AFTERNOON. THIS WILL HELP TRIGGER SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS DURING THE AFTERNOON. SOUTH TO SOUTHEAST SURFACE WINDS WILL FUNNEL LOW LEVEL MOISTURE INTO THE SOUTHERN FRONT RANGE FOOTHILLS THIS AFTERNOON. FOR THIS REASON...THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL AGAIN OCCUR TO THE SOUTH AND WEST OF THE DENVER AREA TODAY. A FEW STORMS SHOULD MANAGE TO MAKE THEIR WAY INTO THE ADJACENT PLAINS BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THE STORMS COULD PRODUCE BRIEF HEAVY RAIN AND WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH BUT ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BECOME SEVERE. AS A RESULT...SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED. THE OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY CALLS FOR WARMER AND DRIER CONDITIONS. COOPER
