A nuisance snowfall and strong winds made for some difficult travel conditions Tuesday afternoon over Iowa. Reported winter roadway conditions reflected as such prompting road crews to attend to them. With the winter season about half over, it is a good time to look at the frequency this season of a given Iowa DOT tracked roadway to be in non-seasonable condition. Non-seasonable is a tough term to explain, but generally means water in some frozen state on the roadway. Northwestern Iowa is the clear "winner" of this plot with the highest percentages shown. There are some interesting and subtle nuances to the plot including a local minimum shown in the Mason City area.
