...Gales conditions possible for the Gulf Waters this afternoon...

.Tropical Depression Seventeen will lift north out of the central
Gulf of Mexico and an approaching cold front will result in strong
winds over the gulf waters. Frequent gusts to gale force will be
possible through this evening and winds will remain elevated 
through Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a Gale
Warning, which is in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening. The
Small Craft Advisory is no longer in effect. 

* WINDS...25 to 35 knots with gusts greater than 40 knots

* WAVES/SEAS...9 to 12 feet

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or
occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires
experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly
recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe
harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

Craft Advisory, which is in effect until 10 PM CDT this evening. 

* WINDS...15 to 20 knots with gusts around 25 knots

* WAVES/SEAS...Lake waters choppy

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots
are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller
vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions.
