...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 09/17/2016 TORNADO EVENT...

At least 3 landspout tornadoes were observed yesterday, 9/17/2016,
near the Colorado border. The first two occurred around Cheyenne 
Wells, Colorado in Cheyenne County Colorado. The third tornado 
occurred south of Weskan in Wallace County, Kansas.

Start date:             9/17/2016 
Start time:             343 pm MDT
Start location:         3 miles WNW of Cheyenne Wells, CO 

End date:               9/17/2016
End time:               403 pm MDT (estimated)
End location:           1 mile SE of Cheyenne Wells, CO

The tornado began west of Cheyenne Wells, CO, then moved east- 
southeast into town. The tornado continued until it moved out of
the south-central portion of town. Damage was sporadic and
primarily concentrated on the southwest portion of town. Damage
consisted of a outbuilding blown over, some broken windows from
the winds, shingles torn off, a blown in garage door, broken tree
limbs, a tree blown over onto a house, fences blown over and minor
roof damage to a metal building.

Landspout stayed over open country. No damage was reported.

Start location:         4 miles south of Weskan, KS

End date:               9/17/2016
End time:               415 pm MDT
End location:           4 miles SE of Weskan, KS

Landspout began 3 to 5 miles south of Weskan, lasted 15 minutes 
and slowly moved north-northeast. No damage was reported as
landspout stayed out over open country.
