For Des Moines, the coldest daily high temperature this month has been a mere 56 degrees. If this would stand until the end of the month, which appears likely if we make it through today, it would be tied (1900 and 1924) for the warmest such value on record. Very cold weather has avoided the state thus far and the forecast calls for a return to warmer temperatures again with Halloween expected to be near 70 for highs.
