Automated sensors indicate that some parts of Iowa dipped down to temperatures at or just below freezing this morning. From a climatic perspective, these temperatures are expected for the last days of September. For farmers, freezes and eventually a killing frost are important to stop crop plant activity which allows the grain to naturally dry in the field.
