At 300 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms near Batavia, or 7 miles east of Ottumwa, moving east at 35 mph. These storms will continue to produce frequent lightning and periods of heavy rain across Wapello County and Ottumwa. Rainfall totals have already reached two to four inches since midnight with additional heavy rains likely. This may lead to dramatically reduced visibilities driving, ponding and standing water on roads and rapid rises in small streams and creeks. Locations impacted include... Ottumwa, Eddyville, Ottumwa Industrial Airport, Eldon, Agency, Blakesburg, Kirkville and Chillicothe. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
