Rating: EF-1 Estimated peak wind: 95 mph Path length /Statute/: 6.1 miles Path width /Maximum/: 1/2 mile Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start date: SEP_20_2018 Start time: 639 PM CDT Start location: 6 WNW Faribault, MN Start Lat/Lon: 44.3145 / -93.3835 End date: SEP_20_2018 End time: 644 PM CDT End location: 5 N Faribault, MN End_lat/lon: 44.3657 / -93.2874 Survey_summary: A National Weather Service Survey indicated that an EF1 tornado touchdown approximately 2 miles southwest of Roberds Lake and tracked northeast over Roberds Lake, severely damaging numerous homes, boats, cabins and trailers. The tornado continued to track northeast across County Road 21, and over I-35, before dissipating northeast of the interstate. .SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WINDS TO THE SOUTH OF THE FARIBAULT TORNADO NORTHEAST TO CANNON FALLS... Peak wind /E/: 110 mph Path length /Statute/: 35 miles Path width /Maximum/: 3.5 miles Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start date: SEP_20_2018 Start time: 629 PM CDT Start location: 4 NW of Morristown, MN Start Lat/Lon: 44.2709 / -93.5046 End date: SEP_20_2018 End time: 705 PM CDT End location: 3 E Cannon Falls, MN End Lat/Lon: 44.5100 / -92.8582 SURVEY_SUMMARY: Extreme straight line winds occurred south of the Faribault tornado for an extensive swath roughly from far southwest Rice County, northeast through the north side of Faribault, including the Faribault airport, and northeast to Cannon Falls. Winds are estimated to have reached up to 110 mph in this swath. It is likely a couple tornadoes were embedded within the straight line wind, but additional information will be needed to determine starting and ending points.
