...NWS SURVEY FOR 07/08/2020 LANDSPOUT TORNADO EVENT...


.OVERVIEW...Several landspout tornadoes developed over portions of
western Perkins County and central Thomas County during the 
evening hours on July 8, 2020. Landspout tornadoes occur most 
often on the High Plains and are visually manifested as a narrow, 
rope-like condensation funnels. Landspouts are typically short- 
lived, but can form in families, especially when updrafts of 
storms interact with surface boundaries during warm conditions. At
the time of this statement, no damage associated with these
landspouts has been reported to the National Weather Service in
North Platte. All of the landspout tornadoes listed below have
strong photographic evidence supporting that they briefly occurred
over open range. This survey conducted by the National Weather 
Service is considered preliminary and subject to change.
