The 3 tornadoes were all small and brief, and produced minimal damage. As is common with tornadoes associated with tropical systems, they were not accompanied by any thunderstorms, but just relatively small showers. All 3 tornadoes were rated EF-0. We appreciate the assistance of MEMA along with local Emergency Management, Fire and Police officials to help with the survey process, as well as the public, spotters and amateur radio volunteers to provide us with the initial information about the tornadoes. .EF-0 Tornado in Marlborough Massachusetts Note: this is a repeat of information we previously released and is included to again for completeness of the record. Start Location...Marlborough in Middlesex County MA End Location...Marlborough in Middlesex County MA Date...August 23 2021 Estimated Time...1140 am EDT Maximum EF-Scale Rating...EF-0 Estimated Maximum Wind Speed...65 mph Maximum Path Width...10 yards Path Length...0.75 mile Beginning Lat/Lon...42.311/-71.577 Ending Lat/Lon...42.320/-71.586 * Fatalities...0 * Injuries...0 ...Summary... A small, brief tornado touched down just west of I-495 near the Marlborough Water Treatment Center, went over a business park and traveled northwest a short distance before dissipating just north of Cedar Hill Street. Several eyewitnesses reported seeing tree branches lofted into the air. The tornado also took down a tree on Cedar Hill Street which fell on 2 cars, with damage to one of them. Several people also filmed the tornado and posted video on social media. .EF-0 Tornado in Bolton Massachusetts... Start Location...Bolton in Worcester County MA End Location...Bolton in Worcester County MA Date...August 23 2021 Estimated Time...1230 pm EDT Maximum EF-Scale Rating...EF-0 Estimated Maximum Wind Speed...60-65 mph Maximum Path Width...50 yards Path Length...0.1 mile Beginning Lat/Lon...42.438/-71.565 Ending Lat/Lon...42.439/-71.566 * Fatalities...0 * Injuries...0 ...Summary... A small brief tornado touched down, causing minor damage between roughly 175 and 198 Main Street. One tree was knocked down into wires, and a large branch was ripped from another tree. It is believed that a funnel cloud initially formed a short distance to the southeast of where the damage was observed, and as it moved northwest, it briefly touched down. Radar data indicated rotation associated with a shower that moved over the area to be very similar to what was observed with the Marlborough tornado. .EF-0 Tornado in Stow Massachusetts... Start Location...Stow in Middlesex County MA End Location...Stow in Middlesex County MA Date...August 23 2021 Estimated Time...110 pm EDT Maximum EF-Scale Rating...EF-0 Estimated Maximum Wind Speed...65-70 mph Maximum Path Width...50 yards Path Length...0.1 miles Beginning Lat/Lon...42.434/-71.497 Ending Lat/Lon...42.436/-71.499 * Fatalities...0 * Injuries...0 ...Summary... A small brief tornado touched down, causing minor damage along Great Road (State Highway 117) very near the Stow Police Department Headquarters. This tornado knocked down a large tree as well as a large branch which fell across the road.
