...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard...

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR MUCH OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA
COUNTIES THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR GUSTY WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE
HUMIDITY...

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH VERY DRY AIR THROUGH MOST
OF NEXT WEEK...

Offshore flow and very dry air remain in place over the fire
district with minor weather improvements over the next several days.
A deep mixing layer and warm temperatures today resulted in large
plume growth of the existing Thomas Fire and this could redevelop
again on Monday. Santa Ana wind gusts of 35-45 mph will weaken this
evening, but many canyons and passes of Los Angeles and Ventura
Counties will see wind gusts of 25-40 mph return late tonight and
Monday. Winds will continue to weaken slightly Monday night and
Tuesday (gusts 20-35 mph). Very low humidity between 3 and
10 percent will persist during the daytime hours along with poor
overnight recoveries mostly less than 30 percent. There is a chance
the red flag warning will need to be extended through Tuesday
evening due to the combination of dry air and winds above 15 mph.

Widespread elevated fire weather conditions and prolonged very dry
conditions will continue through at least Thursday of the upcoming
week. A slow increase in humidity and onshore flow will be possible
sometime on Friday. Otherwise, no rain possibilities over the next
10 days.

...Discussion from Monterey...

High pressure surface and aloft over the Great Basin will keep dry
offshore flow over the area through Monday with poor RH recoveries.
The flow may switch more onshore and RH recoveries may improve
slightly by Tuesday as the surface high weakens. Models indicate
more smoke aloft from the southern California fires on Monday.

Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds.
