.PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 309 AM CDT Fri Mar 15 2019/

DISCUSSION...
Pretty quiet weather is expected through most of the seven day
period as a slowly progressive pattern will see the broad upper
trough over much of the CONUS shift eastward with upper ridging
progged to move from the West Coast this weekend to the Plains at
midweek. A lingering short wave trough over southern California
and Arizona will eject a bit of energy eastward across New Mexico
on Saturday with the models still suggesting a few light showers
possible as far eastward as the southwestern South Plains. Cool
temperatures through the weekend will warm toward seasonal normals
as the upper ridge approaches and moves over the region. The
quiet pattern may change late in the period as a closed upper low
is progged to move across the desert southwest with upper
divergence and lift ahead of it possibly leading to a period
thunderstorms. There are understandably some timing differences
amongst the models but slight chance PoPs for Thursday are
justified a this time.
