Flurries will end this morning, however, cold weather will persist
through Friday. Conditions will remain dry with highs much below
normal from the mid 30s to lower 40s. Lows the next 3 nights will
be mainly in the 20s. A wintry mix is possible late Friday night
especially southwest of Rochester.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Friday)
Issued at 346 AM EDT Wed Mar 14 2018

The earlier single band of lake snow showers has become much less
organized overnight with mainly flurries remaining early this
morning. Inversion heights will continue to fall as winds back to
the west bringing an end to the snow showers and flurries. Cold
air will continue over the area through Friday with highs much
below normal for this time of year.

.LONG TERM...(Friday night through Tuesday)
Issued at 346 AM EDT Wed Mar 14 2018

A couple of upper level systems are expected to bring a mix of
precipitation from Friday into early next week. The initial system
will eject out from under the upstream upper ridge and bring a
light wintry mix Friday night into early Saturday over areas
mainly southwest of Rochester. Have favored the general model
blend of a more northeast track with this system. Thermal
profiles indicate a warm low layer above +3C, so freezing rain is
possible. After a mainly dry weekend, another system should follow
a similar track of the first system and bring another wintry mix
early next week. Snow accumulations are possible by Tuesday
morning, although the latest thermal profiles per GFS and EC are
really marginal for snow.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Wednesday Night)
Issued at 1230 AM EDT Wed Mar 14 2018

Lake effect plume in deep/cold north-northwest flow will continue
to impact KSBN early this morning with variable flight conditions
and snow showers. Backing flow/subsidence should bring an end to
lake effect activity toward daybreak, though a few flurries could
continue through 13/14z across northern Indiana. VFR/drying
thereafter.
