Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
352 PM CDT Fri Mar 15 2019

.SHORT TERM.../Tonight through Saturday night/
Surface high pressure centered over the Texas Panhandle will begin
to move east and build into the four state area. The pressure
gradient that was tight today over the area will relax and winds
will follow suit. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 30s
for most locations along and north of I-20. Otherwise, will see
some partly cloudy skies as some cirrus moves in from the
southwest. /35/

.LONG TERM.../Sunday through Friday/
Short wave trough that provided plenty of severe weather earlier
this week across the eastern U.S. now centered over Quebec. The
forecast area is under confluent flow from the subtropical jet over
SRN TX, N Old Mexico, and the Gulf Coast and from the polar jet from
SW Canada. Expect this trend to continue through the weekend.

By the beginning of next week, a ridge begins to build across TX in
the subtropical jet with dry conditions to continue as well as a
warming trend. Abundant sunshine through at least next Thursday
will very likely result in our vegetation coming out of hibernation
that include the spring azalea blooms.

Our next chance of rain returns by late next week as a short wave
trough ejects from the desert SW and traverses the forecast area
during the fourth weekend of this March. /VIII/
