...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...

  Kalamazoo River At Comstock affecting Kalamazoo County

.The rivers around Lower Michigan continue to rise after 2 to
5 inches of rain fell across the area. No additional heavy rain
is expected over the next several days, so most rivers will begin to
crest in the next day or so. The following forecast is based on observed
and forecast 24 hour precipitation.


Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock
you off your feet... and a depth of 2 feet will float your car.
Never try to walk... swim... or drive through such swift water.  If
you come upon flood waters... stop... turn around and go another way.

This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its flood

* Flood Warning for
  the Kalamazoo River At Comstock.
* from late Thursday night to late Friday night.
* At 11:15 AM Tuesday the stage was 7.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor Flooding is forecast.
* Forecast, the river is expected to rise to near flood stage early
  Friday morning.
* Impact, at 9.0 feet...Expect minor flooding of low lying areas, the
  park in Comstock, and residential areas along Portage Creek, near
  Gull Street and the Recreation Park.
* Flood history, this crest compares to a previous crest of 9.0 feet
  on Jun 28 1937.
