BULLETIN - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
Flood Warning
National Weather Service Grand Rapids MI
1226 PM EDT Sun May 17 2020

...The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in Southwest Lower Michigan...

Grand River near Comstock Park affecting Kent County
Grand River at Robinson Township affecting Ottawa County
Sycamore Creek At Holt affecting Ingham County
Thornapple River Above Hastings affecting Barry County
Portage River near Vicksburg affecting Kalamazoo County

.A prolonged period of heavy rain has begun to affect West Michigan.
Over the next 2 days, most areas will see between 1.5 and 2.5 inches
of rain, with some localized areas potentially seeing more than 3
inches of rain. Following on the heels of the heavy rain several
days ago, this will be pushing some of our rivers above flood
levels. Current river forecasts are based on the amount of rain
expected over the next 24 hours. However, with rain potentially
continuing through Monday night or Tuesday, additional rivers
very well may be pushed above flood levels before all is said
and done.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock
you off your feet... and a depth of 2 feet will float your car.
Never try to walk... swim... or drive through such swift water. If
you come upon flood waters... stop... turn around and go another way.

This warning will be in effect until the river falls below its flood
stage.

Stay tuned to further developments by listening to your local
radio... television... or NOAA Weather Radio station for further
information.
