ACROSS INTERIOR VALLEYS, MOUNTAINS, AND DESERTS DUE TO VERY WARM AND 
DRY CONDITIONS ALONG WITH LOCALLY GUSTY WINDS...

ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF SANTA BARBARA SOUTH COAST AND 
FOOTHILLS...

.DISCUSSION...
A persistent upper level high pressure system over the area will 
bring an extended period of hot and dry conditions to interior 
sections through this weekend. High temperatures over the interior 
valleys and lower mountains will be in the mid 90s to around 100
today and Saturday, then reach the upper 90s to 104 on Sunday. In 
the Antelope Valley, highs will be generally in the 100 to 105 degree
range through the period. Minimum humidities in the 15-25 percent 
range can be expected today, then lower to 10-20 percent over the 
weekend, with single digit humidities possible at times in the 
mountains and deserts. Gusty south to southwest winds are expected to
continue in interior sections, especially the Los Angeles County 
mountains and Antelope Valley, including the Highway 14 corridor. 
With hotter and more unstable conditions by Sunday, there will be
the potential for large vertical plume growth with any fire ignitions
across wind sheltered interior areas Sunday afternoon, with projected
mixing heights between 10,000 and 15,000 feet. The combination of
very warm and dry conditions combined with locally gusty winds will result
in elevated fire weather conditions over interior areas through
this weekend.

Another round of gusty sundowner winds are expected this evening
across western portions of the Santa Barbara south coast and adjacent
foothills, where gusts between 35 and 45 mph will be likely (strongest
near Gaviota).  Although some downslope warming and drying is expected,
humidities should remain well above critical levels, generally in the
30 to 50 percent range. The gusty winds will result in elevated fire
danger for this area this evening. Weaker sundowner winds are expected
to continue across the western portions Saturday and Sunday evening.

Some monsoonal moisture is expected to move into the mountains and
deserts early next week, bringing a slight chance of thunderstorms to the 
eastern San Gabriels by Monday afternoon, then expanding to the Los
Angeles and Ventura County mountains by Tuesday afternoon.
