.DISCUSSION...(This evening through next Tuesday)
Issued at 258 PM EDT Tue May 21 2019

Primary forecast concerns are timing and amount of precip late
tonight and again Friday night. For tonight...showers and
isolated thunderstorms associated with warm conveyer belt arrive
across the western forecast area after midnight and spread slowly
east by daybreak. Back edge moves through by afternoon with enough
sunshine for temperatures to recover into the 70s.

There is a low chance for showers as a cold front pushes through
Wednesday night. Moisture is limited however so most places may
remain dry. An active pattern continues through the end of the
week with a sfc low pushing a warm front north on Friday. Most of
the rain with this low will occur Friday night as showers and
thunderstorms fire up along the advancing cold front. Extent of
convection could be limited by lack of instability due to late
night frontal passage.

Memorial Day weekend looks like mostly fair weather as front
stalls across the Ohio River valley and Canadian sfc high builds
in with seasonably cool weather.

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Wednesday evening)
Issued at 722 PM EDT Tue May 21 2019

Large area of mid cloud cover observed across the region this
evening. Showers and thunderstorms from Minnesota to Arkansas
will move northeast tonight, impacting West Michigan TAF sites
after 06Z. Have concerns about low level dry air delaying the
precipitation from reaching the ground.

VFR ceilings will remain for most of the TAF period, with a brief
period of MVFR ceilings expected between 12Z and 18Z Wednesday.
Gusty winds will continue from the east and southeast as the
system approaches. Low level wind shear will increase this evening
with speeds of 40 to 50 knots possible between 03 and 13Z.

Rain should end rather abruptly Wednesday morning with VFR ceilings
resuming during the afternoon hours.

.MARINE...
Issued at 258 PM EDT Tue May 21 2019

offshore winds tonight and Wednesday will mean wave heights
should remain below 4 feet. Winds could gust above 25 knots at
times north of Pentwater on Wednesday.
