462 FXUS64 KSJT 192330 AAA AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service San Angelo TX 630 PM CDT Sun Aug 19 2018 .AVIATION... /00Z TAFS/ Isolated to scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue developing this evening along and the I-20 corridor, and to the southeast of a Sonora to Richland Springs line. Our southern TAF sites and KABI may potentially be affected. Carrying VCSH and expect VFR conditions to prevail. However, cannot rule out the possibility of thunderstorms with erratic winds, and the possibility of brief reductions in visibility and ceiling, in locally heavy rain accompanying the convection. Will monitor radar and amend any TAFs as needed. A weak cold front will move south across our area overnight and during the day Monday. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible in the vicinity of this front. The front should reach KABI by 11Z, KSJT around 15Z, and the I-10 corridor in the early afternoon. Winds behind the front are expected to be north at KABI, northeast at KSJT, and east-northeast at our southern terminals. 19 && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 253 PM CDT Sun Aug 19 2018/ SHORT TERM... (Tonight and Monday) No significant changes from the previous forecast for the first 24 hours. Light showers, and some clouds are dissipating across the southern half of the forecast area. Clouds have been slow to exit parts of the area, but still expect to see skies clear enough for temperatures to warm into at least the mid 90s for most areas. Meanwhile, a broad area of convergence across the western low rolling plains and Big Country area ahead of a weak cold frontal boundary is yielding new development of Cu. This is expected to result in scattered thunderstorm development by later this afternoon or evening. Have kept the chance PoPs in the forecast for pretty much the entire area, as this scattered activity develops, then moves south during the evening hours. The weak cold front is expected to continue moving south tomorrow, making it into the southern half of the forecast area by Monday afternoon, likely confining the better rain chances to the southern half of the area. We may also see slightly cooler temperatures overall with the front in the area, and potential cloud cover for southern areas. 20 LONG TERM... (Monday night into Sunday) ..Hot and dry Wednesday through Sunday. Monday night and Tuesday, an isolated shower or thunderstorm will continue to be possible in the I-10 region...as a weak cold front dissipates. Most areas will be dry, however. Dry, sunny, and hot conditions are expected Tuesday night into Friday as upper ridging strengthens over the region. No relief is expected Saturday and Sunday either. While the region will become under southwest flow aloft next weekend, upper ridging will still be too strong for shower and thunderstorm development. Highs around 100 can be expected Thursday and Friday. 04 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
