291 FXUS64 KSJT 241626 AAA AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED National Weather Service San Angelo TX 1026 AM CST Sat Feb 24 2018 .UPDATE... Forecast was updated to remove dense fog and POPs. && .DISCUSSION... Fog has dissipated across eastern zones and the Dense Fog Advisory was allowed to expire. Also removed POPs for the rest of the day as drier air filters in from the west. The forecast was updated to reflect these changes. && .PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 501 AM CST Sat Feb 24 2018/ AVIATION... /12Z TAFS/ IFR/LIFR ceilings and visibilities are occurring at all sites early this morning. A Pacific cold front will quickly move through the area this morning, with gradually clearing skies and visibilities behind it. A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the front, mainly affecting KJCT and KBBD. Otherwise, expect a return to VFR conditions this afternoon at all sites. West winds will increase to 12 to 20 knots at all sites by late morning, then decrease around 00z. PREV DISCUSSION... /issued 326 AM CST Sat Feb 24 2018/ SHORT TERM... (Today and Tonight) .Becoming Dry and Windy... As an upper trough finally moves over and east of Texas today, rain chances will end, and breezy to windy conditions will dominate this afternoon. Some areas this morning, across our eastern counties, are under pence fog; thus, we have issued a Dense Fog Advisory, for a few of our eastern counties this morning. Although rain chances continue this morning, a Pacific front will push, from west to east, across West Central Texas this afternoon, and the rain potential moves east of our area. Some of our western counties will have winds this afternoon, from the west, in the 20 to 30 mph range, with possible gusts in the 35 to 45 mph range. Also, some of our northwestern counties may have patches of blowing dust this afternoon, as dust blows into those counties from the Low Rolling Plains and Permian Basin. By late this afternoon, winds will begin to decrease. With rain chances out of the forecast for tonight, expect clear skies, winds becoming light, and lows mainly in the 30s. LONG TERM... (Sunday through Friday) .Mainly Dry and Warm... The long term forecast remains essentially unchanged, with temperatures above seasonal normals and some rain potential for mid week. Models still indicate another upper system may bring rain to West Central Texas again mid week. Given some persistent confidence concerns, continuing slight chance to chance PoPs looks to be the best approach. Models bring another weak cold front across West Central Texas Thursday; however, temperatures impacts will likely be little if any. Thus, afternoon highs for this next work week above seasonal normals look likely. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
