207 FXUS65 KVEF 092307 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 307 PM PST Tue Dec 9 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Warmer than normal temperatures will continue through the week, with periods of breezy northerly winds down the Colorado River Valley through Wednesday. * Cooler temperatures expected over the weekend and early next week, but conditions remain dry. && .DISCUSSION...through next Monday. Little change in the overall pattern as high pressure remains firmly over the West Coast. This will keep temperatures well above normal allowing for near record temperatures Wednesday through Friday. See the CLIMATE section for more information regarding records. A weak trough over northern Mexico has helped increased surface gradients over the lower Colorado River Valley which has helped bring gusty north winds to areas south of Davis Dam today. These gradients will remain through Wednesday keeping breezy to windy conditions in place. Winds gusting to around 35 mph will be seen along with wave heights of 2-3 feet, but due to the isolated nature of these winds, no products will be issued. Extra caution should be used while boating in areas south of Davis Dam. By this weekend, the ridge will flatten as a shortwave moving through the mean flow passes across southern California, Arizona, and northern Mexico. While no precipitation is anticipated with this feature, an increase in high cloud cover is expected, which will also help lower temperatures several degrees. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Winds will follow typical diurnal directional patterns through the forecast period, remaining light with speeds around 6KT or less.
