SOUTHWESTERN LOGAN...NORTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN...SANGAMON...SOUTHEASTERN
MASON AND NORTHEASTERN MORGAN COUNTIES THROUGH 745 PM CDT...

At 716 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Loami, or 10 miles west of Springfield, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Springfield, Athens, Chatham, Auburn, Sherman, Rochester, Riverton,
Pawnee, Williamsville, New Berlin, Divernon, Edinburg, Illiopolis,
Pleasant Plains, Loami, Mechanicsburg, Dawson, Buffalo, Mount Auburn,
and Elkhart.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 55 between mile markers 80 and 119.
 Interstate 72 between mile markers 80 and 123.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
