213 FXUS61 KBGM 100853 AFDBGM Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Binghamton NY 453 AM EDT Wed Sep 10 2025 .SYNOPSIS... Mostly sunny skies, dry weather, and seasonable temperatures are expected through the end of the week as high pressure controls the weather pattern. && .NEAR TERM /THROUGH THURSDAY/... Pretty much a rinse and repeat forecast given the persistent high pressure over the region. Temps tonight will be warmer than last night with the slightly warmer surface temps today. Low to mid 40s are expected across much of the region, with upper 40s in the northern Finger Lakes and Wyoming Valley. Valley fog will once again develop across the Twin Tiers and into the Catskills into the mid-morning hours. A low pressure system will continue to track up the east coast today, pushing high level clouds into the Catskills and NEPA later this morning into the early overnight hours. CAMs show a few isolated showers working their way into the far southern Catskills and Poconos this morning, but high pressure over the region should keep most of the area dry. Temps today will climb into the 70s, with valleys in the upper 70s. A strong mid level ridge builds into the area from the SW as a surface high over the Great Lakes moves into the region Wednesday night into Thursday. Mostly clear skies Wed night will allow radiational cooling to drop temps down into the mid 40s, with low 40s in our normally cooler valleys and patchy valley fog. Highs Thurs will climb back into the 70s. && .SHORT TERM /THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/... Strong ridging and surface high pressure remain into Saturday with mostly clear skies and seasonable temperatures. On Saturday afternoon, the ridge may break down enough to allow a shortwave to propagate across the area from NW to SE bringing a chance for some light rain showers. && .LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... The long term forecast is a little muddled with guidance showing several possible solutions. One has a low diving in from the north on Sunday followed by a strong ridge through early next week, while other show a low pressure system moving up the east coast and turning westward Monday night into Tues, bringing us rain for most of the day. NBM guidance was relied upon given the large variance in solutions, with slight chance for showers from the low moving in from the north on Sun and Mon, then high and dry on Tuesday. Seasonable temps are expected through the period. && .AVIATION /09Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Fog at ELM will burn off around 14Z this morning with VFR conditions expected until 8Z when fog will likely start to form again tonight. All other terminals are expected to remain VFR through 12Z tomorrow. Outlook... Wednesday Night through Sunday...Mainly VFR. Valley fog each late night/early morning at KELM will likely bring restrictions. && .BGM WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... PA...None.
