397 FNUS55 KPUB 231653 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 1053 AM MDT Sat Mar 23 2024 ...A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening for portions Las Animas, Bent, Prowers and Baca counties... .Discussion... Winds will increase today and especially on Sunday as a storm system moves towards the region. Spotty brief critical to near critical fire weather conditions will be possible today along portions of the southern I-25 corridor, followed by more widespread critical fire weather conditions across the southeast counties on Sunday. Snow will spread into the mountains tonight, and into the southeast mountains and plains Sunday and Sunday night before gradually decreasing on Monday. Some significant snow accumulations will be possible across the mountains with 4 to 8 inches for the mountains north of highway 50 and 6 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts for the Eastern San Juans and Sangre De Cristo ranges. A cold front will spread strong winds and snow into the southeast plains Sunday night and Monday with the potential for gusts to near 60 mph and accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Temperatures will return to below normal for Monday and Tuesday, with periodic mainly mountain snow showers. Warmer and drier conditions will return for Wednesday through Friday with the potential for critical fire weather conditions across the far southeast plains both Thursday and Friday. Afternoon dispersions will rise into the very good to excellent category for most of the district today. Lower dispersions can be expected Sunday across northern portions of the area which top out in the good category, while southern section see a return of very good to excellent dispersions. --- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds --- COZ220-232215- Upper Arkansas River Valley Including Lake County and Chaffee County- 1053 AM MDT Sat Mar 23 2024 .REST OF TODAY...
